This is a course book rather than a summary. Every chapter opens with what it covers, teaches through worked examples with the arithmetic done in full, sets exercises with their answers below them, and closes with the chapter in short.
The chapter on the machines you will meet is the one most field guides leave out: what a motor, a close-coupled pump, a belt-driven fan, a gearbox and a compressor are made of, where their bearings sit, which points get measured and what each machine’s characteristic frequencies are in terms of its own geometry.
